# Unlockables

Each of the [collectibles](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items/collectibles "mention") in the Paydirt Metaverse may have optional unlockable content that only the owner of the collectible may reveal. Unlockable content can be in text or image format. Metadata for the collectible indicates whether the unlockable content has been previously revealed or not. Unlockable content is typically used to distribute one-time use [redeemables](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items/redeemables "mention") codes which may be redeemed for rewards such as other [collectibles](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items/collectibles "mention") or [paydirt-gold](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention"). It can also be used for treasure maps or other types of visual information.
