Mining Claims
Stake or purchase a mining claim and mine or lease it
About
Mining claims in Paydirt are a type of virtual land or real estate that players may claim or purchase.
Land
Every mining claim is tied to a unique piece of land. Even though the game is instanced, any given piece of land only has one owner.
Types
In Paydirt as in the real world, there are two types of mining claims: Placer and Lode.
Placer
Placer claims are for mining gold from the deposits located in dirt & gravel above bedrock.
Lode
Lode claims are for mining gold from hard rock deposits.
Identification
Every claim is uniquely identified by an ID on its sign post.
Name
Mining claims may be given a name by their owner.

Size
Each individual mining claim ranges in size from approximately 0.25 to 1 acre in size.
Grid
ining claims exist on a uniform grid inside of the playable area they are located within.
Location
Mining claims can be located a number of different ways.
From in the game, the map screen lists the mining claim(s) owned by the player and can be used to travel to the playable area where the claim is located.
Claim Post
A sign is posted on every mining claim at a corner of the site.
The signpost for unclaimed land is displayed as a hologram so that it’s clear the land is available to claim.
Examining (looking at) the signpost highlights the extents of the mining claim.
Claiming
Leasing
Claim owners can open up lease slots for others to join via the claim management window.
Owners may also invite people to empty lease slots.
Lessees gain the ability to mine the claim.
Each lease slot is assigned a royalty percentage which can be configured by the owner. Royalties are automatically collected from the lessee(s) and distributed to the claim owner.

Claim Jumping
Whenever the claim owner is logged in and playing the game, the claim becomes eligible for claim jumping. This means any other player may mine the claim even without authorization.
When someone jumps a claim, a short timer is started. When the timer expires, the owner of the claim is notified that their claim is being jumped and can take action to defend their claim.
Claim jumping is a crime, and thus active claim jumpers will have their criminal flag set. Claim jumping also has a negative effect on reputation.
