# Infusion

*Infusion* is a special feature of Paydirt [Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items#non-fungible-token-nft). It enables Paydirt NFTs to contain tokens like [](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention") or even other NFTs. In Paydirt, this feature is primarily used to *infuse* [](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention") into Paydirt NFTs representing gold items.

Behind the scenes, [](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention") is *infused* into every [Gold Nugget](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items/collectibles/gold-nuggets), [Gold Coin](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items/collectibles/gold-coins), [Gold Bar](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items/collectibles/gold-bars), or any other gold [blockchain-enabled item](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items#blockchain-enabled-items) whenever it is converted to [Non-Fungible Token (NFT)](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/virtual-items#non-fungible-token-nft) form (through [import-and-export](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/import-and-export "mention")).\

In other words, every Paydirt NFT representing a gold item is *infused* with [](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention") when it is created or minted. The NFT becomes a container for the [](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention") ERC-20 token and ownership of the NFT is ownership of the tokens contained within it.\

The amount of [](https://whitepaper.paydirt.game/paydirt-gold "mention") infused when an item is created or minted is equal to the item's *gold weight,* which is the amount of *pure gold* it contains.\
